Presenter of TVNZ shows Sunday, Marae Investigation and Tonight, Miriama Kamo, will be hosting the upcoming Melbourne Cup day charity fundraiser for True Colours Children’s Health Trust.
The True Colours and Pumice Food Group Long Lunch will take place at The Atrium, Wintec on Melbourne Cup day, Tuesday 5 November, as part of the annual fundraising efforts for the Trust.
Pumice’s Chefs David Kerr and Ryan Ladbrook will be serving a plated three-course meal throughout the afternoon while guests are entertained with live racing action from Melbourne, music by Hair of the Dog, exclusive auction items and Fashion in the Field.
This year’s Long Lunch has been made possible with the support of Pumice Food Group and other Waikato businesses who have donated their services, products and staff. Miriama Kamo has also donated her time as host for the afternoon.
True Colours is entirely community funded, requiring it to raise money each year through community donations, corporate fundraisers and grants.
“We are excited to welcome Rodmor Charitable Trust on board as our Principal Funding Partner for the next three years,” said Cynthia Ward, CEO and nurse specialist for True Colours.
“It is fantastic to have this support which will play a key role in helping us build a sustainable business model, increase our human resources and continue our work with families throughout the Waikato.”
With advances in medical technology and babies who have been born prematurely having a greater chance of survival, and children now living with more complex health issues, the number of families that True Colours work with on an annual basis continues to grow.
“We have now cared for over 1,000 families, thanks to the community’s generous support” explains Mrs Ward.
