Waikato-based charity, True Colours Children’s Health Trust, is recognising 10 years of service this May and has launched an ambitious fundraising campaign to celebrate.
The charity, which provides counselling, therapy and nurse care for seriously ill children and their families, hope to raise $10,000 this month by encouraging members of the public to donate just $10 each. Funds raised will be used to ensure True Colours’ services remain free to children and families who require this support.
True Colours CEO, Cynthia Ward says: “Over the last 10 years we have cared for more than 1,000 children throughout the Waikato. As a charity we have accomplished this without government funding; we are a community funded independent service.
“We are incredibly grateful to all the organisations and individuals who have supported us; however, as the number of children and families who require our services continues to increase, so do our costs.”
The charity, which has musicians Tim and Neil Finn as its patrons, is also launching a regular giving programme, WINGS of True Colours, to help establish a sustainable source of income.
Other fundraising events to celebrate True Colours’ 10th anniversary include a Housie Night at the Hamilton Cosmopolitan Club on Wednesday 21 May and a quiz night in June. Our major fundraiser of the year will be the True Colours Long Lunch on Melbourne Cup Day 4th November.
