What a year 2020 has been! Who could have predicted what lay ahead for us at the start of the year when we had never even heard of Covid-19. Despite the challenges that this year has bought we have been overwhelmed with the level of support that has continued to flow our way. A massive thank you to everyone that has supported True Colours in 2020. Your support means the world to us. Here are a few of the highlights:
Cambridge Christmas Festival
Each year the Cambridge Town Hall is transformed into a Christmas wonderland. A dedicated team of volunteers spends the year busily preparing for the event, by making a huge range of Christmas decorations that they sell in the Christmas shop. We have been lucky enough to be a recipient of their fundraising efforts for the past two years, receiving $4000 this year for professional development for our team.
Show your True Colours Day
This year we launched a new fundraising event – Show your True Colours Day. The day was all about wearing bright and colourful clothes to not only raise funds for us, but to also highlight the work we do and the challenges that families we support have to face. Thanks to everyone that took part and helped us raise $2550. We are looking forward to making it even bigger and more colourful in 2021.
The Beard had to go!
Like many people during lockdown, Brad stopped his normal routines – which included maintaining the hair on his face! He didn’t pick up a razor for months and the beard became a full blown, hearty addition to his face – much to the anguish of his wife Michelle! When Brad decided it was finally time for the beard to go, he started a Give a Little page and helped raise over $2000 for us.
Businesses doing good
We are blessed to have three businesses that support us monthly through generous donations. As a community funded organisation, forecasting our income can be tricky, so knowing we have these regular monthly funds coming to us is hugely appreciated. A massive thank you to the wonderful teams at Lugtons Real Estate, Urban Homes, and Dynes Transport (Tapanui) Ltd. We are thankful to be aligned with such reputable companies that live out their values in a very tangible way.
Christmas Cheer
Christmas is a time of giving and we have been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of plenty of kindness this festive season.A big thank you to Haywood & Co, and Architectual Glass Products who decided to donate money to us in lieu of gifts for clients and staff this year. The ANZ Bank, Huntly Joinery, and Smugglers Liquor have also given us wonderful Christmas donations. And our Christmas Tree has plenty of gifts under it thanks to the team at Farm Source and The One Billion.
